Charming historic ambiance made for a cozy retreat.
During my stay, the room was uncomfortably warm some evenings, making it difficult to sleep. Although a fan was provided, it was still an annoyance. Also, the lack of a fridge in the room was disappointing, especially for someone who enjoys having cold beverages at hand. While there are nearby cafes for breakfast, it's frustrating to have limited dining options right at the inn.

The English Merchant'S Inn offers a unique experience reminiscent of staying in a museum. The proprietor, Howard Baskin, provides an exceptionally warm welcome and shares fascinating history about the building and the town. The cozy accommodations are spotless, complete with a comfortable bed. Breakfast at local cafes, such as Rhino Coffee, was delicious and convenient. I truly appreciated the private balcony in my room, providing a great spot to unwind.
The breakfast selection involves visiting nearby cafes rather than dining on-site.

Just a reliable pick for a momentary pause in Waxahachie with reasonable value. I especially appreciated the large welcoming porches that added charm to our stay. Consider making a reservation for the restaurant on the historical square. it's a special spot.

The warm hospitality of the hosts creates an inviting atmosphere from the moment you arrive, and the cozy common areas offer perfect spots for relaxation. Special touches, like the bowl of chocolate and a well-stocked room, enhance the experience. However, the nighttime train noise might be disruptive for some, and I'd recommend looking into more family-friendly activities. Eating at the local cafes provided great meals, but the limited onsite dining options felt like a missed opportunity.

Mary and Howard’s warm hospitality truly made us feel at home, including thoughtful touches like a bowl of chocolate to welcome guests. The location is safe with ample free parking, providing easy access to nearby attractions, making our time here even more enjoyable. However, the train noise at night was a slight inconvenience, and more activities for families would enhance the experience further.
